Norris Goff and Chester Lauck were both thirty-somethings when they portrayed Lum and Abner on radio. Goff helped write the early episodes while Lauck gave life to many of the characters on the show. In this film, Lauck is better as an elderly shop keeper than is Goff. After the radio show and films ran dry, Lauck retired from performing.
This is another of those stories of bygone days that never were, but that we all want so much to believe they were like this.

Running time of 65...is this an edited print? I read it was common for films to be edited when they were re-issued by small distributors during the 1940s.
Print itself is a little dark but quite decent.
